Competition

To better reflect the diversity of our industry and the wide range of delegates that RTC attracts, this year’s competition rules have been changed. There is now just one competition, with four major prizes, and all entries will be judged against all relevant prize categories by your fellow delegates. Winning entries from the 2009 competition are shown at right

Integration:
Prize: HP Z200 Workstation
Sponsor: HP

This prize will go to the entry that best demonstrates the use of all three streams of Revit (Structure, MEP and Architecture) within a single project. It is fine to see material in the entry from other products, but it must demonstrate the use of all three Revits to qualify for the prize.

Innovation:
Prize: HP EliteBook 8540w Mobile Workstation
Sponsor: RTC Events Management

This prize showcases the efforts of you or your organisation to push the boundaries of what is possible using today’s tools simply wild and woolly building designs, we are interested in projects and processes that stretch the use of the tools in new directions, and explore new ways to achieve desired results. Entries can include work integrating other software, but only where those program results are then brought into Revit to achieve the end product.

Presentation:
Prize: 1 seat of a commercial release Autodesk product
Sponsor: Autodesk

In the presentation section we are looking for examples of work demonstrating the best of presentation techniques incorporating Revit. Note that this does NOT necessarily mean rendering! Layout, proportions, and most importantly, the successful conveying of your message are all vital to a quality presentation. Work can be a single image or a page layout; rendered, shaded, or other format images; or anything else that centres around presenting your work to others.

Documentation:
Prize: 1 seat of a commercial release Autodesk product
Sponsor: Autodesk

This section is intended to showcase 2D documentation / annotation work carried out within Revit. We have had especially strong entries in this category in previous years; show us the next generation of Revit documentation to take this one out.

The competition will be judged by your fellow delegates and awarded on the basis of the 'best' Revit work. It is NOT necessary for all work to be carried out in Revit, but every entry must be based on Revit work at its core, and must clearly reflect this. The RTC Committee reserves the right to disqualify any entries which do not reflect a strong Revit basis, or which do not comply with other stated rules of the competition. Furthermore a single entry may win more than one category, and this will then be awarded at the discretion of the RTC Committee.

Please provide your entry as a maximum of 2 x A3 sheets, preferably portrait orientation, with any information that identifies you or your company either blanked out or removed (we will not accept entries with identifying information on them). We recommend that you also provide a typed A5 sheet with a list of the software you have used to create your entry, and separate sections on how you think the entry addresses each of the categories you consider relevant. Each section description should be no more than 100 words. This description will be pinned up along with your work for delegates to review and consider.

Your entry will be given a number, and this will be used on the judging forms distributed to all the delegates for voting. Entries can be submitted at any time prior to the conference, but must be received no later than the end of the last session on Thursday, Day One. Please do not vote for your own work, or work from your company! Please also provide an electronic copy (in jpeg format) of the submission so that we may include it in the slideshow that will be running on an ongoing basis in the breakout room.

Please email your jpeg file to secretary@revitconference.com.au  by Tuesday, May 18th and also bring a hard copy (maximum of 2 x A3 sheets, preferably portrait orientation) to the Conference.
