Speaker Portfolio

This year's conference features more speakers, more classes, more knowledge and more chocolate (hopefully) than ever before, so I am delighted to introduce to you a roster of speakers more than 40 strong.

With speakers from every Australian state, and from 6 countries, the depth of knowledge and breadth of experience of this year's roster of speakers is staggering. Multiple viewpoints, multiple methodologies, all leading to one cohesive result: "Be in BIM!" ...and RTC is the first and best place to do exactly that.

Stewart has since become the CAD manager of sorts at R&Y as well as being responsible for CAD systems development and training for office staff. When he's not busy performing his architectural duties he spends his time experimenting with the nuances of REVIT, focusing his attention on the integration of other software into REVIT (SketchUP primarily) as well as developing best practice procedures for using REVIT in an architectural office. Stewart is also a member of the RUGSA group.

  Glenn Cunnington
Humphrey and Edwards

Glenn had aspirations to be the greatest home-brewer in history, or at least a rock and roll star! However due to some dreadful evil perpetrated in a past life he was condemned to a career in architecture. Since graduating from the University of Queensland more than thirteen years ago, Glenn has held substantial positions with Chetwood Associates (UK), Peddle Thorp (North Queensland), Humphrey & Edwards and Seidler Associates in Sydney. Before, in a moment of complete madness five years ago, establishing his own practice!

Glenn is now involved in projects that range from 15m2 concession fitouts for a well known fashion label to a 50 hectare tourist sub-division in Nadi, Fiji!

He has been using Revit for nearly four years and hasn't looked back. Glenn has come to accept that he'll never be a rock and roll star. But at least occasionally still enjoys a good home-brew

Katia Gard

Architectus

Originally from Switzerland I came to Australia in the early eighties, to work as an Architect in Brisbane. I was first exposed to CAD in 1984 using AutoCAD first commercial version, Autocad 1.2 on a DOS platform with 512kb of RAM and a gigantic 20Mb hard drive.

Later I learned and used a range of software such as APDesign, 3D Studio, Archicad and many others which I used in practice as well as in my teaching. My first involvement with Revit was in 2006 when I joined Architectus Brisbane.
Since then, I have been Architectus CAD and BIM manager, responsible for the on-going training of staff as well as developing and implementing the office standards.

I am committed in making Architectus a leading BIM firm through our holistic approach of Revit.

  Vikram Grewal

  John Hainsworth
Arup

As a structural engineer, John has notched up many years of struggle trying to get previous releases of Revit to do what engineers want. With the release of Revit Structure - he's a changed man ! With many successfully completed projects ranging in value up to $500m he has no fear of using Revit for any project he comes across.
As a Virtual Construction Coordinator with Arup, he has unhealthy interest in the use of Revit (and other competing packages) within the consultancy environment - especially for ifc translation, analysis integration, contractor/design team co-ordination, supply chain co-ordination, construction sequencing, as well as 4d & 5d planning.

John presented at AU08 and with responsibilities for technology trend watching and BIM transition across the global Arup, his views on a successful transition to Revit, return on investment, when to model, what to model, the level of detail, costs, budget, advantages and the subsequent passing of data rich models might even interest some delegates who are not structurally minded too.

Andrew Harp

ARCHdoc Australia

As a graduate from Leederville Tafe in 1991 after completing 3 years full time study, I received my Advanced Certificate of Drafting (Architectural) and a Diploma in Architectural Drafting. Moving straight into the building industry I worked within a small company specialising in the refurbishment and development of character and period homes, developing my skills in domestic design and drafting.

A new opportunity opened for me to develop and manage a design studio. Over a five year period a dominant design consultancy and shopfitting service was created to be the leading company in Perth throughout the late 1990’s.

It was then time for a sea change with a move into the customer service industry, which was used to build skills in customer service, client relations and increasing my management tools. The last five years have been spent in a Perth based drafting office, providing an ideal opportunity for self development and to form a solid foundation within the Architectural community of Perth and interstate. With the growth potential reached it was time for a new beginning and the result is ARCHdoc

  Tony Mackay

Axiametrix

After almost 35 years in and around the construction industry as an Architect specializing in Contract Documentation and Contract Administration I have accumulated a wide variety of experience and a little learning. Following 18 years in the Public Sector then voluntary redundancy and a few minor excursions (licenced builder, kitchen manufacturer, landscaper and aquaculturalist), the Architecture Faculty of Newcastle University engaged me to prepare course material for the Bachelor of Construction Management by Distance Education. When the 5 year contract expired I returned to the joys of private enterprise, and am now senior partner in a small general architectural practice. Since 1991 I have been a part time architectural drafting teacher at TAFE teaching mainly construction to part time students. I have been using Revit for 3 years.
